The sun on the water is dazzling . It was a holiday, but I also was able to see suppliers.
The presidential election campaign was at fever pitch while we were there. An interesting local campaign issue in San Francisco was vote (now) for the end of factory farming hens. They are doing their best!
On our journey along the coast we stopped at a viewing point on the way from Monterey to Cambria. Many people had gathered to watch the Elephant seals sunbathing on the shore. So many of them. It was such a delight to see, and friends of Cambrian wildlife are very protective of them.
The Elephant seals land onshore to breed and conserve energy. Already fed from their last hunting expedition they don't eat again until they go out on their next hunting trip. The information sign said not to approach them at close quarters as they may become startled and use up their precious energy, which is of course, their valuable fuel for breeding and hunting. The seals didn't seem to mind a bit that they had a big audience. They had the appearance of teenagers lounging around and chilling out! It was a thrilling experience to see so many.
